How does pressure pots work?
When a pot is sealed and does not permit steam to escape while cooking, the boiling point of water increases as the pressure increases and the pressure built up inside the cooker makes the liquid inside the pot to rise to a higher temperature before boiling.
Denis Papin, a French physicist, invented the pressure cooker in 1679, which was used over a stove. People adopted the conventional pressure cookers during world war II because they wanted to save fuel considering the short time it took to cook meat.
